Did you know that cities and towns inventory all of their street trees? They know the variety and age of the tree in front of your house or condominium. They also have laws preserving their trees. The care and enforcement is controlled by the tree warden.
Section 6.1 in the Brookline Tree By-Law states that a public shade tree may not be cut, pruned, or removed by any person other than the tree warden unless the tree warden issues a written permit. GLC can assist you with this process and in some instances get a written permit to do the pruning for you to the specifications in your city or town. Call us if you need help.
